come on people, it is aways water changes cos of the s**t in the water, after a while the filter will always put toxins back into the water but water changes take them out not recycle the H2O..:headbang2:clap:shark::tropicalf:arapaimag:asianarow:goldfish::mwave::stingray: come to the UK and we will show how to keep fish proper :D

Water changes are the "secret" to successful fishkeeping.

You can have the best lighting, filtration, and stocking...and not do water changes and still fail.

Whereas, you can have primitive lighting, filtration, and over-stocking...and do lots of water changes...and be quite successful.

WC's, WC's, and more WC's if you want your fish to grow fast and be as healthy as possible do as many WC's as possible, also filtration is key to having a clean clear tank and once again healthy big fish. Stocking knowledge comes with knowledge that is shared from others experience because we never know how a fish will act before we buy it, what its temperament is and what it really likes not what a book says.

You can compensate under filteration with WC
You can compensate over stocking with WC

But you can't compensate WC with either, unless you have a denitrator.

So WC is the most important. It's like the rain in nature for the river to replenish with clean water. Filteration is like the plants and bacteria in the water to elimiate pollutant.
no such thing as over filtration ;)

There is a point to where it becomes to impractical to do enough water changes and have enough filtration to keep the tank healthy if its way over stocked i also know of tanks that are stocked very litely and never need water changes the tanks bacteria takes care of all the chemicals

So I stand by that stocking is the most important filtration is second and water changes are third

STOCKING for sure!! There is no "most important thing to remember about fishkeeping" if there is no fish to keep!:ROFL:

Reaserch, reaserch, reaserch. It's what keeps your fish alive.
