most underrated ca/sa cichlid?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
even though this isn't a real sa/ca fish, but its parents supposedly are is the parrot fish, and yes it is a man made hybrid and yes people dye and tattoo them but a quality bred blood parrot that hasn't been ''modified'' is quite a cool fish to me.

imo underrated is something that alot of people pass up and dont get very often even though they are frequently available. in no was is a con, oscar, or dirty blood parrots "underrated" since they are so common and frequently purchased by aquarium hobbits

would have to say convicts, one of the smallest, toughest, and bravest fish you will put in your tank. get a male with good contrast and a female with super colours on her belly. as you guys said if they were hard bred all would want one

I could go with blue acara, but I don't see how anyone can say convicts or oscars when they are the two most common new world cichlids in the hobby.

I was going to say Oscar, but I have to agree that convicts are pretty put down in spite of being rather awesome fish. Especially some of the selectively bred strains, and the occasional neon red and blue female.
Lol the oscar. There the most overrated cichlid alive.

I think the green terror is the most underrated. One of the most colorful of all ca/sa cichlids and are readily available in pet stores.

I agree that cons are underrated too. They are very tough and have so much attitude.

Another one is the jewel cichlid it is not a ca/sa though but their water requirements are the same as the ca/sa. Like the convict, they are very tough. They stand up against cichlids more than twice their size, they are very beutiful if well taken care of and they don't dig up the plants too much.

Festivums!!!
They are great they have grace and beauty. They are peacful and outgoing. Mine swim around my hand during wc and one nipped me the other day. They are now my second fav cichlid behind severums. They are be good in a community or larger sa cichlid tank. I can't say enough about them. Oh yeah you can keep one or a group. Just about the perfect fish IMO.

Yes why don't more people keep blue acaras? They are nice I have had a few but never see them in stores.
