yeah i think this needs to be done only on large fish because the little guys just dry out on their own

Starting today.

I have three crayfish I'm going to mummify. The biggest one being Dave, the crayfish in my avatar.

Now all I have to do is wait... About how long you think? I'm guessing about 1 and a half months.

Just amazing, i now have 2 things i have to try on a dead fish. ;) Anyone have a couple dead fish i can borrow?

That tetra came out really good dever1, and yes the short amout of time is definitively due to the size of the fish. Great to see that is working well for others aswell :headbang2

Otto_Vonbacon, ur crays don't seem to have any freezer burn and look great, so i have a really good feeling about ur outcome.

A little over a month would be my guess, but there's nothing wrong with checking up on them in a few weeks as long as u cover em up again when ur done it will make no difference. ( I check on mine after 3 weeks)
I really cant wait to see how this comes out.

Thanks for the posts and pics guys

Why thank you. I'm thinking the little male is going to turn out the best, the ice did the least to him. Dave might turn out a bit sketchy because she lost so many limbs. Nothing crazy glue can't fix though.

You coat them in some sort of clear coat after you take them out right?

Oh man this is my kind of thread.
I've been doing this for several years now.
I have several clown knifes going right now, both are around 16''
You have to do it a little bit differently with large fish though.
Next fish will be either a red snapper, or a 3 foot frostfish.
