Murderer on the loose

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
with such a large selection of stock it will be difficult to work out who the culprit is. How does the Undulatus behave both of mine in the past have been extremely aggro but ofc the aquariums were nowhere near the scale of yours.

I want to say the lion fish... or the eel that is in the pic of the dead angelfish

But I really am leaning towards the lion fish... Put him in a small quarntine tank and see if he deaths continues

Not the lion I think we can rule him out along with the eels, if the culprit is the fish I think it may be one of the triggerfish as some will bite fish such as butterflies and angels

Can I ask why you think we can rule them out? They are predatory and aggressive especially the lion. I still think he should take the lion and put it into a different tank and see if it changes or not... I may be wrong or I may be right but it doesn't hurt to try... (Unless the lion stabs him cause that would defiantly hurt lol

If I had to venture a guess I'd blame the triggers or the puffer, but as has been mentioned, that's a lot of aggressive fish.

If it were the eel, I think you'd realize it fairly quickly, they tend to destroy things...

Also, physical damage does not necessarily need to happen in order for a fish to get stressed to death. Video feed that you can monitor is probably the best bet to determine who your murderer(s) are.

Actually that is a great idea appak,

You should take a GoPro or a different video camera and just set it to videotape the entire day then look and fast forward to where you see a fish being chased or attacked

from what i know the eel or lionfish or even the remora are more predatory as in they'll eat any smaller fish in the tank. this debacle seems to be more territorial aggression which is why the trigger is more a suspect. I'd even suspect a big angel too.

the surveillance camera is definitely the best idea.

Wow. Thank you so much. I had a lot more fish 2 months ago! My webcam arrives this week, so I’ll you all posted when i catch the murderer.

I think it could be any of the eels (I have two dragons and a tesselata), the remora, or any of my 3 triggers (crosshatch, pink tail, undulated).
