My 1500gal plywood build (pics)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
This is an awesome build, with some good ideas in it too. :)

I know it hasn't been very long, but how is all of the equipment(DIY filter, heaters pumps, etc) running?

No problems as of yet. Even with my heavy stock zero ammonia. I only do water changes once a month but I have yet to have a problem. All the fish are enjoying it and growing quickly

awesome build mq. how do you do water changes and how noisy is your sump? i can see its inside its own little enclosure but wonder how much you hear it when in the room. thanks.

I do wc with a hose. just siphon about 750gal out over the day. than refill quick. The sump really isnt very loud. It gets quitter and quitter the more media I get into it. It sounds like a far away waterfall while in the room which is actually pretty nice. Overall no regrets.

Im actually using ZERO power to heat the pond and water stays right at 81* so my design for the room was right on.

Thats awesome that the temp is staying right without any heaters! Would you beable to get some updated sump pics? I looking to change my sump design and try and make it alittle quieter and would love some ideas

Bad news. Somehow both pumps stopped working last night. They both turn on and beep like they want to work but dont pump water. I took both of them apart and cleaned them but no go. I'm going to call the company tomorrow and see if there is anything I can do to fix them if not I will order 2 haywood pool pumps rated at 130-150gpm to give me much better flow. This kinda sucks :/
