^^ The driftwood is a killer piece. GL with the val, mine was uprooted non-stop by my orange head colony (x10 rowdy little turds..). I could never keep any for more than a week. I am having allot better go with onion plants. None the less the tank looks awesome. ;)

Thanks, ya i don't know how long they will last, i didn't really have a problem with them before the move, but once i moved everyone, my rotkeil is just destroying them. I have been thinking about onion plants.

well an update, i've ran in to a few problems, i don't know what has gotten in to these fish, But The day before i moved the fish, a notatus jumped out and died, then the day i moved them, my rotkeil went crazy on the vals (i never had a problem before) so i had to sell them, then they killed the shark and then the same day killed one of my chocolates by beating on them. So i've lost a total of 3 fish in 3 days. but everything seems stable now. geez

What did you do about that annoying residue from the play sand from filling it up? I am trying to figure it out so i can not take down the 40B to clean it. Will it eventually erode into the water?

hindsight 20/20 you should have cleaned the sand before adding it to the tank (assuming you didn't since you have that problem)

But looking forward: Don't take your tank down on account of it, put a sponge over your filter intake if you can (to keep the finer floating sand particles out) and do your regular water changes. Higher volume & faster schedule will get the crap out quicker, but I'd say don't overdo it depending on what else is in your tank etc etc.

In summation...it'll go away with regular water changes;)

and OP: nice tank!! I like that driftwood piece. If it were mine I'd probably turn it over so that the thick stump & that one small piece curving upwards would be what it rests on and all the roots were sticking up. Looks killer though.

nice tank, try elevating some plants in the background like planting them on the driftwood to create some interest, also dont plant in neat rows mix it up a lil to make it look a bit more natural, if u want

I mean the stuff in the first picture.

What is that, sand stuck to the glass? Use a piece of plastic (like a credit-card) to get it off the glass then take it from there I guess? When I added play sand to my 65 I never had that problem, didn't have it happen with 3m colorquartz either.

Those look like bubbles to me from just being filled up, not sand. I get those after WC's too.
