My 190 gallon tank - suggestions are welcomed

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
its actaully find it quite fun trying to find em, they burrow aswell... i went tile on my big tank as i got fed up of cleaning up the mess, as its always overstocked, need to sort that tank and sell a load of fish off!

I didn't finish tonight, I'll continue tomorrow afternoon/night.

Eheims might be all that, but installation is not easy... It's sturdy, but it takes so much energy to put the hoses together properly..

Fx6 was really easy, this is not.
The installation guide is pretty much useless. Maybe it's just me....

I need to cut hoses so many times and fit them to so many parts, when they could have designed it simpler by adding some of the parts, directly to the canister, and then I connect hoses, instead I have to cut, add, cut and add....

But, I did add some fertilizer, I did half of what was recommended, and I'll gradually increase, however I added liquid carbo and fertilizer within 5 mins, I'm supposed to wait a few hours between the two. I hope I didn't mess it up.,.

Community tanks are growing on me.

I really like the dwarf neon rainbow fish..

So new plan:
5-8 dwarf rainbows
15-20 otos
10-20 amano shrimp
2-5 Gabon shrimps
20 red dwarf pencil fish (tetra)
20-30 Cory's (sterbai maybe)
2-5 Bolivian rams
Maybe 2-4 electric blue German rams
4-6 yoyo loaches or another small loach that eats snails

Maybe some dwarf angelfish (if I can get hold of some, very rare to find IMO)

I'm very curious if I can keep the otos, they seem very fragile.
I can get hold of some zebra otos, but they are 10-15 dollars each, same as the red dwarf pencil fish..

I really want to try keeping small fish in a large tank, I love to watch them have a lot of space to swim around.

And maybe try to have geo's or other fish when I get a much larger tank 300+ gallons.

Dwarf rainbows look amazing. I bought 2 pairs but the males die in 4-6 weeks and after 4 months Im down to 1 female. All other fish are fine, kind of wondering if they are sensitive to co2.

Is this too much fish for this tank?

3 - rineloricaria red
5 - angelfish red backs
3 - apistogramma viejita 2
2 - Bolivian rams
20 - Cory sterbai
20 - oto's
3 - ancistrus (bristle nose plecos)
5 - hujeta gars (not a true gar)

That's 61 fish in total... Sounds like a lot too me.

But I have at the moment one fx6 and 2217, and will get another 2217.

In just worried it might get crowded.

Maybe reducing otos and Cory's down to 15 each,

i think that idea is great, im adding more corycats to my tank too, i only have 2 then i realized they like big numbers

I really like cory's, they're very fun to watch and look like ugly puppies.

What kind of cory are you thinking of?

I'm currently looking to get some sterbai or maybe venezuela blacks..

Just ordered another Eheim 11W UV and 2217.
Hopefully it's here in 1-2 days.

I think that last list of fish, is the combination i'm going to go for, I really like those fishes and i think they'll go along well, and it's all south american fishes, so it's sort of biotope.. but i don't think they come from the same habitats, and my plants are african/asian...
