My 190 gallon tank - suggestions are welcomed

what about some rainbow crabs? blue lobsters?

I am seriously considering adding a Ctenolucius hujeta or Rocket Gar (not a true Gar fish) to the tank.

I am however not going to add it, as it is 5 inches when ordered from my supplier, before my Nicaraguas and Geophargus are at least the same size. I belive the Hujeta is a slow grower, however, best to on the safe side.

I need to read up on them though, I know very little right now (5 min google time).

They look gorgeous, and spend their time at the top level of the tank.
Anyone had one these with similar fish?

I had four of them in with one nic that I've still got and baby convicts but didn't have much luck one got battered and didn't eat two jumped out onto my cover glass through a gap and dried up under lights :( jumping probably caused from convict attacks from below so my fault should have seen that coming :banghead: and the final one lived for another year or so I guess , all in all not a good experience for me with rockets but they are really stunning fish and I would have them again , mine fed on hikari gold mini , bloodworm and FD shrimp

Convicts are more aggressive then Nicaragua's i believe.
I think Nicaraguas and Geophargus are actually one of the calmer of the Cichlid species.

I am definitively going to give it a go down the line.
They look really neat, almost like a barracuda.

When you say 'one got battered', was it from the convicts or another hujeta?

Edit:

My tank has fully covered light fixture, and no place for jumping fish to land, so i think I'm good at that front.
They might hit the light tubes, but i think both the fish and lights will handle.

In my 90 SA tank I have chocolates, blue acaras with a pink tail chalceus, works well so far.pink tail stays mostly top 1/3 of the tank

To change things up a bit;

If you could keep one (plant friendly) fish in this 190, what would it be and why?

Also here is a shot from just now, I've spend 2 hours removing the water and 1 hour so far to fill it up.

I'm preparing for plants and pump to arrive on Friday!

So one fish and why?
I'm thinking maybe a chitala ornata, yeah it gets big, but I have someone who has the space to take of it, when it hits it's max size.

Thinking fahaka as well, but probably a bit messy, any suggestions?
