My 300gal Plywood Tank/Stand/Bio Tower build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Nice build so far. How do you intend to install the glass? From what I've read on these builds using Zavlar, chalking won't stick to it. I intend to use Zavlar as well when I start my build in a couple of months, so I'm trying to get as much insite as possable.

gonna be siliconing the glass to the inside and then once that dries i will be putting zavlar over the edges of the glass hidden by the frame to hold it in place (adding the waterproof seal and keeping it flexible still). the zavlar will stick to glass.

4th coat is on and i just found a place that has 12mm plate glass in stock for cheaper than i was quoted for the 10mm i was going to purchase AND will have it available for pickup for tomorrow! the other place was telling me tues at the earliest, so this is great news.

ive never heard of blue wood. is it like a green treated wood?

I think on some HGTV show they said it was a Canadian system. Blue for areas of high moisture, green for ground/slab contact, red for fire areas, etc. As far as I know that system hasn't been adopted in the US.

I'd be interested to hear more from some of the Canadian members.

Looking forward to seeing this project come together.

thanks, i'll be having a 4 drawer bio tower DIY filter filled with pot scrubbies draining into a 100ish gallon rubbermaid container and i would like to get an eheim 2262 as well.

Exelent! I picked up a piece 10mm 84"X24" tempered up here in Barrie for $50. I think we have the same idea for sumps as well. I already have my four drawer and tub. Looking forward to more updates.

nice, i got a 70" x 18" piece of 12mm plate glass for 150$ from st. catherine's. figured between 10mm and 12mm, i'd rather go for the slightly stronger one as i won't have any bracers separating it into 2 windows, just single long one.
