My 330 Center Overflow project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry no update worth getting excited about. The most I did was see just how much thinning I had to do then its been working on my mx bike to get ready for the track tomorrow. I do have a pic of one of the thicker pieces to show just how thick these things are. I did a little thinning but working with a dremel hand rotary tool thing, having a brain fart and can't remember the actual name of the thing lol, makes for slow going. Maybe soon I will have some update pics with a decent amount of progress, and maybe some motocross pics too if I can convince my girl to take some while we are riding tomorrow.

Side note I will upload the pic of the thick piece when I get to a computer, can't upload from my phone. Maybe that will calm the masses lol

Oh man I would have been so nervous driving that thing home. This looks pretty awesome and is a really good idea. Great job so far!

Thanks! And yeah the drive home wasn't very fun. It all went smooth till 20 minutes from home a strap came off so I had to ease it over onto the shoulder and redo that strap. Crazy that it lasted that long with no problems and just when i thought it was gunna be smooth, wrong! Lol

I thought I was going to lol, it happened in a construction zone so where I said shoulder of the road was.more like a gravel opening where the workers parked their equipment at the end of each day, they were all out working so it was open lol. But the scares part it was one of the straps holding the canopy down, which was on the very top and the switch from asphalt to gravel had a good 4-5" drop so my truck leaned over and I just watched my rear view mirror hoping that wasn't enough of a shift for it to come off. It was already top heavy so that small of a drop had a huge effect on it being at the top. Fortunately it held.:nilly:

I just had a discovery that hadn't crossed my mind to try, this cork is extremely soft wood. I actually found my discovery by accident, if you have the cork saturated with water then try to stretch it and let it dry out stretched it dries and stays exactly the way you wanted it, found this out by the tube i rushed from soaking to put in for the mock up (was still wet) went to try and take it out and the overflow had stretched it out enough that it wont fit out of the same hole it went in without being soaked again, so I know it stretches now to see if I can compress it by soaking it and letting it dry also.... this could be a major help

Just to show how much it stretched here is a pic of the tube I am talking about. When this tube was shipped to me those two sides closed to form an actual tube instead of a half pipe

I wonder about the longevity under water? Keep the updates coming :D

I don't think the longevity will be an issue as one of the major selling points when I was searching for virgin cork bark was that it was used in animal habitats, was fairly buoyant etc so they weren't trying to keep it out of water, which I felt good about. But believe me if it doesn't last I will let everyone know, you might actually be able to hear my rant just by walking outside lol

On a side note hope to have a decent update either late tonight or tomorrow morning. Hope to get some work done after I get off work at my actual job. Also my gf did take some pics at the track Sunday so if anyone is interested I may throw a couple of those in with the update

hurry! i am ready to see fish :)
