Also, I don't think he can raise the water level because of the internal filter (though I run them somewhat submerged with success on a 10 gallon). And if you don't have an interest in big fish, big tanks, fish with big appetites, or rare/exotic/expensive fish, I recommended you go to Aquaria Central for future posts.
This should also be in the General Aquaria forum since it is more about a general tank and not really about setting one up or asking questions about filtering it.
Also, try to get a pic of the Betta. I would like to see a video of it building it's nest also. And a Pacu would make a great tankmate for that, or maybe even a RTC or Arowana.
