Love the setup, and the substrate looks great, wouldn't think to mix those two but might consider it in the future after seeing it done! Going to be awesome to see it stocked

Thanks, I think it looks good too. Almost like a shiny charcoal color. I originally planned to just use the sunset gold, but after seeing pictures of washed out gars over light substrate I knew I had to darken it up. Since I couldn't return the gold (bought it long ago) I just decided to mix black in. We'll have to see how it looks underwater before passing final judgment. :)

That is one hardcore tank. I love the dimensions. 2' tall is a good way to go. The stand is also beautiful.

Random question: I noticed a dehumidifier in one of the photos. Which one are you using?

That is a random question! But a good one when it comes to a basement fish room. Let me get back to you on that, it was a housewarming gift and I only look at it when I empty it... (every night it is full)

It looks like a Frigidaire. I just bought one last week from amazon. I go the 50 pint Frigidaire.

It works really well and it is quiet in my opinion.

Yup that is it. Very good dehumidifier, I agree.

I just need to hook it up to my laundry and sink plumbing in the basement so I don't have to manually change the thing every night.

I am going to do the same thing. My drain though is underneath the washer though, so I don't know that I will be able to access it. I think I may run it directly into the sump, but I have never done that before, so I will have to look it over and figure it out.

Thanks turtles.

Going downstairs to start plumbing the sump now.
