my 625 gallon DIY plywood aquarium build

I think I need to find a faster way to fill my tank. I run my well water though a drinking water filter that really limits the flow to the tank. Water changes should not take 4 days to fill back up. though I have been making sure I ave been in the house while it is filling so I can not run it that many hours at a time.

The tank has stalled out :-( a month ago or so I noticed some water dripping from the frame work near the front of the tank. I had most of my fish in the tank and it was almost full. so I pumped the water in to my other tanks so I could put the fish back in them. I emptied the tank and dried it out so i could add another layer of sealant to the joint ware the glass meets the pond liner. After waiting 8 days for the glue to cure I started filling it again. I have had it at 22 inches for about 5 days and put some feeder guppies in it yesterday. well today I noticed that it is leaking again :-( so I am not sure what to do. I have not been able to find the exact location of the leak so it could be a hole in the liner and not a hole in the joint with the glass. The liner is plenty big so I am debating cutting the liner 6 inches back from the glass and gluing the glass to the liner again or just getting a new liner to glue to the glass.

Its usually the front window at the bottom of the glass, thats where mine leaked after the one year mark due to a spot (tiny pin hole) i missed with silicone, i tore it down dried the tank, re shot the front inside bottom and its been good for 3 years after (knock on wood lol)....did u ever put more legs under ur stand across the middle span to back? Imo the bottom is probably "sagging" when more water is added causing the silicone to come apart from the glass as ur bottom sheet flexes. My 650 is on an entire solid pallet of cinderblocks and its made just like urs. Id try putting more legs under ur bottom to prevent sagging. Plywood will bow and so will ur steel supports. Even the sligest amount will move/stretch the liner until something gives. Dont get discouraged! U made it pretty far for ur first attempt, put on some legs underneath thos metal straps (even wedging a 2x4 to the floor will work) redo the silicone and try again! Good luck!!!

The frame that holds the bottom of the tank is VARY strong. I did not have any sagging at all. I need the room for the heater and canister filter. When I had the tank going the first time I was using the under gravel heater.

I am playing a cruel trick on my buck tooth tetra. I have had them in a 65 gallon tank while I am trying to built my 625. Well the stopped leaking after I drained a bunch of water out of it. so I decided to put the buck tooth tetra in it for a couple of days. they are not going to know what to do with 8 ft by 4 ft of tank. but sadly I am going to need to take them back out and put them in the 65 in a couple of days so I can work on the 625

IT IS HOLDING WATER! Of course I just had to swim it because I can! This is probably the only time I can do it before I drain it of the hard well water and begin the slow process of filling it with filtered water for the fish.

Here are some more photos that include the actual tank. And some of the fish that will be residing in it. A tinfoil barb and flagtail. (I just got the flagtail and hope he gets more color as he gets bigger. )

Yes the pumps in the tank where unplugged. I had them in the tank while filling it so if it started to leak I could pump the water out quickly.
