my 625 gallon DIY plywood aquarium build

Oh my, That scares me enough to follow, I wish you luck. I know most tanks are overbuilt a lot, but I hope your building skills are top notch, I'm sure you have done your homework.

Yes the liner comes around the font of the glass. it overlapped more than I had planned. I am going to get more steel tomorrow morning. I am using a glue called Welder it like like really powerful modeling glue and the only glue that bonded to the pond liner. I am going to put a layer of Goop marine over it.

Ok thats good new...i was worried u just had it inside the glass. Also the overlap is fine, you want as much sealant on there as possible. And id also recomemd going over the marine goop even with 3m 5200. Ive had goop deteriorate over time submerged and just peel right off of plastic ponds. Modeling glue can be very brittle. You dont want it cracking over time. 3m 5200 will give you the small amount of flex you need when waterchanging.

Good news bad news. I found 3M 5200 at the local marina and plan to pick up some tomorrow. Bad news got some more steel today and while loading the 11 ft peace in my car broke the front windshield. Worse news is that they cold have cut it in to 33 inch long peaces that I needed it to be for an extra $1 but I wanted to cut it my self :-(

Damn...thats a kick in the teeth :( sorry to hear about ur troubles...hope you can get that fixed. Nice find on the 3m. The tank should b good to go now atleast.

So my girlfriend wants to know what we are going to put in the tank when it's done. We don't want to go the cichlid route. Right now we only have smaller fish like tetras and barbs mostly community schooling fish. And one needle nose garr that we don't really want anymore. I like flag tails but have not been able to find any in my area yet. The girlfriend wants larger, more impressive looking fish that will stand out in the tank. Any (preferably affordable) ideas?

Does any one have a conversion form pond filter capacity to fish tank size capacity. for some reason I have had a lot of trouble with ick in some of my fish tanks and have been loosing a lot of fish. I think it was because they where in temporary tanks set up to grow the fish out till I get the 625 set up. and they did not have a lot of filters in them. I currently have a TetraPond Bio-Active Pressure BP4000 Filter that is rated for 4000 gal pond. I have it set up filtering a 65 gallon tank at the moment :-) With the amount of trouble I have been having with ick I am considering getting a second canister filter. I do not want to deal with non pressurized under the tank systems.
