My 700 gal fiberglass tank..

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
im getttin one from my teacher but it doesnt have the window but its like 20 bucks an 100 gallons

Thank you all for the nice comments...
The unit comes sealed, without bulkheads. Today I drilled a hole to accomodate a 2" bulkhead. Piece of cake. I was really surprised how thick the fiberglass material was on the walls. Exhaust plummery done. Now got to work on the water-in. Also got a 48" reflector lights from Home Depot and two Full - Spectrum lights..that should be more than enough. If things go well, I should start filling it in by Sunday..:D one last pic, the exhaust end of the 2" pipe put it about 6 feet from the house and dig a 20" x 20" hole, full with rocks...that way I won't have a big mud-puddle..

so you have the 632 or do they have/make a 700???

I'm sure I can make a nice stand and top. might not looks as nice as a reg tank but the fish will def be happy.

In their catalog, it is listed as 632 gal. When you use a pond gallonage calculator & input 8 x4 x 3, the gallonage is 720 gallons....and that is exactly what is stamped inside the walls from the manufacturer. These dimensions are exact inside dimensions...I double-checked and measured. Of course, that is filling it to capacity, I expect to leave it maybe 6" below the top; which should bring the actual gallonage somewhere between 600-700 gals.

My wife and I are talking over getting one of thies. Looking to be around the same price as a DIY plywood, and a hell of alot easier. Great thread man and kick ass tank. :headbang2

Do you know the contact info for the manufacturer?

im looking into one of these too alot cheaper than the way i was gonna go

guys, no time for pics today...just lots of work. finished the electrical connections & filtrations. Hopefully I'll take pictures tomorrow & finally fill it up! As far as painting it is concerned, it is fiberglass. I guess it can be painted same as a boat, but couldn't advice you of non-toxic paint for fish. To me, blue is just fine. I know this tank was manufactured probably in Malasya, to US specs...I know so, because it says " 720 US GALS"...plus aquaculture people are really picky about a rugged commercial tank meant to be used for years of abuse. There were chinese newspaper wrapping the corners under the plastic when it came in. Again, the big difference between this and a pond is the window! with a pond, basically you can see Koi fish, goldfish, but the details of other monster fish gets lost, especially if you have splashing water. Again, that glass is thick...I put my finger from both sides & there is a lot of space between. Knocking at it sounds like one of those glass dinner table, maybe ticker...just love it. Promise pics for tomorrow great opening!!
