Only time will tell, i recommend you not to alter the water in any form. I got a srt that did the same thing. She was laying on her side for 2wk until she fully heal. I think he just ram his head too hard and trying to recover.

two weeks, wow! Did you have her in a sling or anything or was she just on the bottom of the tank. I'll leave my makeshift sling if its working. I just don't want it to suffer if its back really is broken.

I feel a twitch on occasion, and sometimes he'll even twist, but not much more than that.

Would it be ok to do a water change?

I would, good luck on the recovery

This is terrible news, hopefully this fella heals up in no time! Best of luck and wish to you and your arowana. I also hate it when my black arowana gets spooked....makes my heart stop for a while!

He's usually not too bad, and I've learned to approach the tank slowly. I had food on the top and went to grab it and he went crazy. He was right by the side and he just zigged when he should have zagged. He went pretty hard into the side of the tank. It all happened so fast and then he just sank.

I held him in the water flow for over an hour until I had shriveled hands. I could feel his slime coat wearing off where I was holding him. Thats when I rigged up the tshirt.

When I got up yesterday, I thought he was dead as I found him out of the tshirt and nose down on the bottom. However, he was still breathing so back in the shirt he went. He stayed there all day yesterday and last night. I moved him a couple of times and he twitched a bit. This morning I rearranged him again and felt his body try to twist. Based on those moments and the fact that when he does go nose down, he's straight. I'm hoping that proves his back isn't broken.
