what is eggcrate?? I only have three carpinits the pair are fine togather it is just the males don't like each other. I am just worried if I moved the lone male that the pair might fight.

i'm not sure what that means in terms of their development, but i think you should wait till they are swimming before you feed them. it's pointless to add food and end up fouling up the water.
egg crate is also referred to as light diffuser. it basically looks like a giant piece of white plastic with square holes inside. go to home depot, they carry it. you can use a pair of wire cutters to cut them up to size.

Wait until they have been free swimmers for about one day before feeding. Probably about another 2 days. They usually won't eat until the egg sacs are absorbed.
The light diffuser is in the same area as the shoplights. Keep us updated. Also, get a turkey baster so that you can place the food next to the babies. Just add water and suck up the food into the baster and then you can get the food right down to them. It works for me.

The eggs sacs are absorbed and they are swimming!!! So should I leave them with their parents or move them to a 10 gal to grow out?
Gonna be hard to move them now. Its your call... I have my fry in a tank with mom only. She is a good mom though. More will survive if taken out... if you maintain the tank well. You feed a lot, so you clean a lot.
I will tell you my experience, i leave the fry with herichthys like 4 to 6 days, and then remove almost all the fry, and leave a few for the pair, because herichthys normally eat their fry if they dont have enough space.
