My Carpintis update...3rd month

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Madabout....
Thanks mate!
Thats the meanest and the baddest jewel I've ever seen or kept. You wont believe, hes the boss of my tank, 5" of solid beef:grinno:, he might look a little out of shape, obese(as he eats 1/3rd food that goes into the tank).
He owns about 70% of the total tank area, that poor texy is no match for him. His criminal records....:headbang2
Eats every feeder that goes into the tank...
Ate 5 full size tiger barbs and 2 rosy barbs(2.5")
Killed previous boss jewel that measured nearly 6"
Killed my firemouth.....

Still I love that guy, the most colorful turquoise jewel I've ever seen....he looks much prettier with fins expanded.

The last pic is of an etroplus maculatus(wild caught), he has learnt to live and dodge those mean guys.
Sorry for going offtopic....
I'll upload a video in a couple of days.

That is one of, if not the, nicest carpintis I've seen yet.

Also, it's nice to see the wild form of Etroplus maculatus ... all I seem to find now a days is that reddish man made form.

whats the diff. between this and a texas???

my boy is about 5" so he has a ways to grow before he outgrows hi 55gl tank. the only fish with him now is a common pleco, because when i first got him i put him in with ither fish in my 90 and he bullied all of them. so meany gets his own tank for now.

he is easily the meanest fish i have ever seen. and everything in the tank is right where he wants it. he's like a little bulldozer.lol
