I'd be more concerned with the water from 1 tank being the same as the other. I don't think you'll have much of a problem with bacteria. Usually I don't move any old water, but I'm guessing the new and old tanks have a huge difference in parameters.

Now you have me worried.

I don't think that I did anything when I moved them from the 55 to the 180, though they were much smaller back then.

That's great Bret. You'll really like the sand substrate.

This is going to be a scary one for me. I am finally moving all of my loaches from the 180, that they have been in for years, to a 220 that I have recently cleaned up.

The 180 has a bunch of hob filters and the 220 has a 55 gallon sump, so it should be a little better overall. Also, they will be moving from a gravel substrate to a sand bottom. I am in the process of bringing the 220 up to the proper temperature.

At least this will give me a chance to count how many I have...so then I will know how many I can add to the pack. :D

Good luck, I hope you have better luck then I did when I moved my pack!:(

Put the media from the HOB's in the sump.

Yep. That's what I think I will do. I might move some of the other fish over tonight and all of the loaches tomorrow.

if you put a lot of the loaches into a bucket it might be worth dripping some new water into the old.
