My clown loach weekend....

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How did it go?

Great success!

It appears that everyone made the move and they are doing very well. They are already swimming in the powerhead streams and exploring the new tank.

The steps I took....

1. Moved the xp3 from their tank to the sump on the new tank. I let it run and will keep it running for maybe 2 more days.

2. Moved the custom powerhead/sponge filter and got it running.

3. Moved the 50+ lb. piece of driftwood from old to new.

After this, I let the tank run for about and hour, so everything could get established and settle down.

4. Moved the rainbows, plecos, and catfish directly from tank to tank.

5. Filled (2) 5 gallon buckets with their existing water, then attempted to catch all of the loaches and discus.

Once they were all caught, I slowly started adding the new tank water to the bucket for the next 20 minutes.

6. Dumped the bucket of loaches into the new tank and turned the lights off.

7. Added aquarium salt in the overflow.

I found out after this whole process that I have exactly 40 clown loaches. :headbang2

I decided to change it after it had been running for a year or so. I got rid of the sock and added a bunch of AC110 sponge filters.

Here's the updated version:
