I guess you got the 2" special? 10 for $80, Pedro is running a shipping special on pfury, $35 is that how much you paid?

Yep, got the special. I wish it was $35. It was $79 and change for shipping! I almost canceled the order when I got the shipping call, but we really wanted the fish so I went with it.

damn, that's a lot of money for shipping, if I knew you were going to order from aquascapeonline I would let you know about the shipping special.

Live and learn, I will check on shipping first next time.

Well we have fought one algae problem after another but it is finally starting to look like it is supposed to. I don't know much about water plants so feel free to flame.

are those T5HO light? how many bulbs? might be too much light for your tank and plants.
also some of the plants aren't real aquatic plants and may die off over time. actually I think most of them aren't.
here's a chart on light intensity, gives you an idea.

LightIntensity-1.jpg

By the chart it comes out to medium light. Tank about 24" tall T5 2 bulb 4" over tank. Also I cut the exposure time way back to help the algae problem. I am pruning and yanking plants that don't look good. They were all sold as aquatic but when I got them home I realized most of them were not supposed to be under water all the time but more like bog or terrarium plants. If I decide to replace them I will be more careful. Just when you have a few things figured out in this hobby all it takes is one new variable (plants) to set your learning curve back 30 years.

I was wanting to go with lower light plants and light fixture for budget reasons and because I was thinking that piranha prefer lower light. What would you recommend for lighting? I don't want to mess with MH or high pressure sodium, but would spring for t5 or similar if it would work better.

Wish the price of the new LED technology would come down, would make the energy cost and heat dissipation feasible for just about any light output you want.

I use a quad t5 setup on my 55, but i alway have something floating driftwork leaves so there is some shade in the tank. No Problems! plecos or rbps.

How`s the 90 goin? any new developments?
