Do they thrive like wels do in a warm water? IV always loved goonch just never really thought they would do well in a aquarium.

They can do well if you have the right set up. You need lots of fast flowing water. High o2 levels. Clean water. However unlike the wels as these fish get larger they need the cooler water for its higher o2 levels to thrive. As for temperature past a certain size it is not smart to keep them in a tropical tank. Rob, Egon, gibbidy and I have worked hard compiling lots of information on these fish. And some can be found on this thread and a few others such as RObs write up. When it comes to researching these fish we all did our homework. We had plans for these fish long term as should everyone trying to keep them.

Not to be that Guy. But why do you keep a cold water species in a tropical temperature?

Also before further commentary (I know its easier to ask and assume), as stated before there is lots of information on this thread regarding these fish that has been compiled. Not saying to read all twenty something pages but if you have an interest flip back a bit and read the other info. It discusses temp ranging. The effects. Airation, growth rate, ect.

Very nice bro, glad you are diving back in instead of leaving the hobby! This thread has been very useful for any goonch keeper, and non-keeper here!
