The care of Pitbulls is vastly different than 95% of the breeds out there.
Just because you can "own a dog" doesn't mean you possess the necessary skills to own, train, teach, bond with a Pitbull. There are dogs, and then there are Pitbulls. As you can see by the statistics, not everyone is cut-out to have Pitbulls.......
if they don't stop dead in their tracks when you command, you need a new breed.
Pitbulls do not respond to that type of voice the way we need them to
Hello; Please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the forum members I quote above are pit bull defenders.
These statements from folks who like and defend the pit bull lead me to think that having one is a risk beyond other dog breeds. I was already wary of the pitt bull types from my own experience and from knowing the experiences of personal friends. To read such comments from folks who like the dogs gives me further pause. I will not go so far as to say someone is an "idiot" to want to keep the dogs. It does seem that to have a dog that is different from 95% of other dogs and requires some special "necessary skills" to train and handle is not the best choice. While I was already not inclined to have one based on the statistics, I am further convinced by these comments.
