Beautiful tank and fish A few other Geophagus species I've kept also dug pits near their spawning sites. Sometimes they spit out and kept the fry in the pits before they went free swimming.

@peathenster: that's an interesting info, but still I thought that they might do that as a pair; in my case, I think male has made this pit just to impress female! Moreover, he improves it only when female appears nearby, as an addition to head shaking. We'll see whether he uses it as spawning place, too.

really cool. your fish look a lot like the geophagus sp. tocantins i have, although i must say the colors are quite a bit more vibrant.
