My electric blue acaras just laid eggs

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You shouldn't need it now that the eggs have hatched. They will wriggle for five or so days, just keep the water circulating.

Thanks then I will save it for next time. Some eggs got fungus but still got around 100 - 150 wigglers :D
As soon as they all leave the stone the eggs was attacked to I removed it along with the bad eggs

Very cool, I just picked up a trio of EBA's myself and it's awesome to find out that they breed so readily . While whether the fry will be EBA's or regular Blue Acara's is up in the air at very least the offspring should be carriers of the gene and as such if the fry get bred back to the parents or each other when they're mature I believe you should be able to produce more EBA's.

Yes it will be interesting to se ef they turn out eb or they just will have the gene. I'm right now doing a project with the electric blue jack Dempsey where I'm growing up eb gene for my eb. Hope not to have to do that with the acaras ;)

Is breeding eb acaras like ebjds? Where the fry are weaker? Is it like blue gene acara x eb acara? Or is the genetics different

I don't know but hope not. Hope they will be strong and hope since both the parents are eb that the fry will be to and not just eb gene

I have lost a few fry but even at a small size they look metallic blue. I hope that's a good sign that they breed true like EB rams. :D

Do you also have the electric blue acaras ?
How did you hatched them ?
Did you used Methylene blue or juat did it the natural way ?
No Just cichlids, trying to use the general behavior with yours. I always went natural with any cichlid eggs.

Glad to see the progress so far

I have two myself and they have a slight size and body shape difference and Im hoping mine are male and female as well. How long have you had them? Do anything special to try and get them to breed? And size? Mine are under 2 inches but eat like CRAZY
