My electric blue acaras just laid eggs

Mine is now around 4-5 " and had them for around 2 mth. I did a 50 % water change with cooler wather and gave them a flat rock..... and bingo !!!! :D

Definitely looking forward to seeing how this turns out. Whether they would breed true has been a question since the species first surfaced for me. Looks like you are doing well so far. Keep up the good work. :)

The mortality rate isn't an issue but they do grow about half as fast as regular blue acaras. I think some outcrossing is in order to see if you can get them a little hardier.
 
My pair bred a couple of months back. They raised the fry until about the 2nd week, and then the mother decided to eat them all. It was their first batch so I half expected it. Since then the temperature has dropped in the house so they haven't spawned again.
