My female FH

with those pics it looks more like a midas cichlid. red devils have more of a pointier face than the midas. plus red devils have bigger lips or at least true red devils.
 
ive seen people breed RDxFH, it turned out great, ive started off with Rd and fh, and they did breed once, but ive never got to see the frys, think someone was messing with the tank while i was away so the eggs were gone. if breeding, rd and fh is what you really want then go for it, its your fish you can do whatever you want with it regardless on what people say. all i can tell you is that both are great fishes. GL.
 
i am not worried about the state of FHs
i dont think breeding them will destroy the species
if they will breed y not try it out
worst case scenario the fry are of low quality
seperate the parents, and then only u can see there beauty u watched them b raised in ur tank, u can do wut u like w/ them
 
i have both a RD and a midas. You can see the difference. but so much cross breeding its hard to tell. wild caught rd have huge lips.
 
I moved her to my 40 breeder..
She got all dark.. and shes digging up a corner..

Think shes just adjusting?
I moved all her ridiculously bright stuff in there with her..
I just took the background off cuz i think it was too dark.
 
yeah most likely she is trying to find a nest sight. she will be digging and cleaning out an area for a couple of days.
