Question?
Are these snails bad? Not sure if they eat plants? Might have to get some loaches.

So now I am at a waiting point...
Should I take down the 60G and 40G? Move everything to the 75G other than the Rummy Nose and the goldfish?

I have an empty 55G and 150G in my back yard just begging to be used. I might start an out door tank with some local fish. Not too sure that sounds smart.

Amy Ideas on algee eaters for my 75G?
I might put my ottos in but will need tons of help. Not sure they wont get eaten.

Those fish in one of your earlier pictures that were gold with black stripes are clown loaches... My suggestion would be if you're interested in a fish and not quite sure what it is would be to take a picture of them at the fish store and get an ID on them from someone here. I would be happy to ID any picture you send me in a private message.
Also, are you using any fertilizer? Seachem also makes a liquid co2 supplement called Excel I would recommend using for a boost in plant growth. I would also recommend fertilizer tabs in any plants that draw nutrients through their roots.

Also if you're having algae problems that means you have an imbalance of light/nutrients/co2 in the tank. Try to stabilize your tank before you add algae eating fish or inverts... They are merely a treatment to a symptom, not a cure. A properly balanced planted tank shouldn't have algae problems (a small amount of algae is normal though).

I agree with above.. unless you like the goldfish.. in which case I would just keep hardy plants such as java fern and cyrpts. My goldfish leaves the crypts in his tank alone for the most part, the only time he goes after them is if a leaf goes off. But he's also a good garbage disposal for excess plants from my other tanks instead of just throwing them out. He loves to eat them. Though you may want to thin them out. Usually 20 gallons per goldfish is a good adult size to consider. so the 60 can hold 3 adults give or take.

Nice planted tanks! I can't believe that you had all those problems and you're discus are doing so great. You must be doing something right!

BTW good on you for removing the "no fishing" sign, lol!

Your tanks look awesome dude, but yeah get rid of the goldfish... unless you put them in a new tank. Goldfish are very messy and cloud up water hella bad.

Thanks for checking it out. Let me know what you think.

Nice tanks and Discus! I have tried a few plants in my 29 gal. but they always died. I had success with elodea and I guess I'll try that again. Reading this thread is great inspiration for beginners in the planted tank world. Also are you using fertilizers or something?
