My first big amazon catfish: leiarius Marmoratus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I also just want to say that i'm very happy to finally a large catfish. I've been in love with the catfish family for a couple years now and I've owned a few of the smaller species that I've really enjoyed. Also just want to point out that this fish is included in the SA Catfish Grand Slam. Here is a pretty cool video that mentions the achara catfish in the beginning(ish).

In tank shots? :)

Here is the video of him acclimating into the tank. if your to law to watch the whole video then skip to 4:25 to see him being put into the tank. I currently don't have any good pics of him in the tank because after i took the video he found a hiding spot which he is now cemented under.

Thanks guys.

Has anyone had a problem with young achara's being very shy? So far in the 5 days I've had him he has not come out of hiding. He ate two night crawlers that made their way into the achara's hiding spot but other than that he has not eaten either. He is a very demure fish so far. Will he start coming out more when he gets larger or maybe this is an issue because he is stressed from shipping?
