Looking good Paul. Sorry again for loosing the little guy. I fell bad but I will make it up to you. So was I right about the Tem? ? ? ?
I had to put them in my 75 because I needed the 40 they were in for quarantine of my new atabapo fire pike. The 2 flagtails and the 1" orange necktie severum are fine and I had a 6" S. elongatus in that tank for months without a problem. Only the ocel had any physical damage, but that appears to be post-mortem. Both died with feeders in their stomachs and mouths wide open. I would say it was the feeders, but 2 nights ago I fed them feeders from the same batch and they were fine. The temp of the 75 is the same as the 40 was (around 86F). I wish I would have let HCR keep the tem now. Knowing that they need good oxygen levels, my guess is that the DO level went too low overnight because there is no oxygenation from an airstone or anything (so as to not lose CO2 from surface agitation) and the plants start using O2 at night...a terrible oversight on my part.
pwmin;2342305; said:thanks, guys. No worries, HCR. The flagtails aren't even 4 inches yet, so they'll probably fight once they get bigger, but I'm going to sell one of them. I actually have another one that's about an inch or so bigger in another tank.
I'm so distraut. This morning, I woke up to 2 dead bassI had to put them in my 75 because I needed the 40 they were in for quarantine of my new atabapo fire pike. I'm not worthy of keeping bass, so I'm going to wait a while before I get another.

Well, they were sort of an impulse buy and now that I think of it, IDK if I'm ready for cichla right now. My largest tank has some slow-growing fish in it that I can't put in my smaller tanks. I would have made it work by getting a larger tank or something when the time came, but maybe I should hold off. I've just had such bad luck with any small fish I've been keeping. Fish Palace still has the other tem, but it was too much money especially for the size. It is significantly smaller than mine was thoughHigh City Rida;2342398; said:Dont trip off it man. Your my boy man so what I will do for you is go get another Tem and grow him out for you until let's say 7'' and then I will bring him on bye so you can enjoy him. No BS all of your P's were super small man and they need special attention for sure. But don't get down on yourself were all learning and you and I both are doing a whole lot to say the least so don't get down on yourself man. I am having to give up on my planted ideas right now. Because I am doing so much. But keep your head up man. If I see anyhting that is bigger then 5'' I will pick it up for you.
I would for sure stay away from small cichla as they need to be watched whne in the tank with other cichlids. The slightest fear can cause them to spazz out. . It sucks I know bro because theat Tem was killer. But don't sweat it at all I got some tricks up my sleeve for ya. Even if your not ready right now I will hold on to one for you for when your ready. I am still open to letting you get one of the Ocellaris if you want. I think the smallest one is 10''. I will give you a killer price or we can do a trade. I will take one of those Flag Tails off your hands.
. I think I just need to keep the fish I have right now and get everything situated first. I've had a few small polys die recently, too. pwmin;2342440; said:Well, they were sort of an impulse buy and now that I think of it, IDK if I'm ready for cichla right now. I'm seriously, like depressed about it right now, but I'll get over it. If you (HCR) want the feeders I have, you're welcome to come and pick them up. I won't feed them to any of my other fish. You can grab the flagtail, too whenever you want it and use it for credit or something for down the road, because I may get one of those bass from you in the future. I have some serious thinking to do about all of my fish right now.
Good choice on holding off on the planted tank. Mine has been a huge PIA for me trying to get the DIY CO2 working and problems with algae and snails. BTW, did you see the new creni I got? I was peer pressured into buying it, LOL.
pwmin;2342705; said:I'll figure it out and let you know. Just LMK when you want the flagtail. It'll be available whenever you want it.
I would really like to grow out a Cichla from a small size, too. I just need to get my CC paid off and save up to get a large tank.
CRAZY CRAZY!
