Your fish is fading/peeling..........here is an example of my Flowerhorn peeling, it took about 2 months to get to the last picture, but each fish is different, some will peel fast, some will peel slow, it depends on the fish...

sarah. youre actually describing what this fish is doing :)
no this fish is getting white not dark splotches and then fading to orange where its fading like a midas would, but now that ohsnap posted those pics i can see that apparently this is how some flowerhorns fade, so yes i agree that it is probably fading and fish store person wasnt lying about it peeling but were lying about it being a pure texas and you obviously have a red texas/flowerhorn that is fading to its adult color, on a pure cyano or carpintis this would not happen

Is it just me or does this fish look part blood parrot? Definatly doesnt look like a flowerorn or midas. I think its just some blood parrot coloring coming through... Anybody agree?

all are the same kind of color.

and every fish has its quality in colors and such. In a hybrid, you just cant say because when they mix, the genes tweeek each other up.

I keep several flowerhorns. I do not care for parrots at all, and thats the first thing I noticed. The parrot trait is really strong in this one. Sorry, but it is a flowerhorn that has bp in it.

i think its a texasxbp offspring and its peeling... CONGRATS :D

First thing i noticed when i originally saw the thread

well what every it is, the fish is quite peaceful and eating a little bit more. I now know in time the patches will heal up and change colour.... thats good news.
