My fishlist for my 125 Central American Aggresive Biotope

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
definitely the green, red ones are hybrids but either way its up to you which you like better, though his red ones wont be the nice colored super red ones you will see on google. they may actually not even end up having any red on them at all

I think you should get whatever combo you want, just make sure you can house the fish at their full grown sizes. Ive had many experiences with different combos... and to be honest ive noticed that with cichlids it kind of depends on the individual fish, ive seen severums be the most aggressive in a tank with jags and jd's... but like people have stated, breeding pairs are DEF guna be aggressive, no way around it, so watch for that... besides that you may have to just work around whatever fish you want the most and let its personality dictate what you have.... Ive had to pretty much get rid of everything cuz of my fav RTM lol... anyways goodluck!!! and keep it fun!

i say stay away from the blood parrot too haha, theyre ugly and wierd hahaha just my opinion, but i guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder

:iagree: in terms of aggression, it really will depend on the fish. u do have to consider size though. once u put an oscar or a jag in a 125 u really take up alot of room and the the list u have is definately big for having something like that. with cichlids, i would suggest to never stick to ur guns about having multiple fish because there is a good chance it wont work the way u want it. i would pick one u really want and do what u can to work around it when adding other fish ur interested in.

ok thanks, ya the blood parrot is sort of the star of the tank. i allready have the jd's, the bp, the pleco, the leoporinus. and the blood parrot is my whole families fav. he is the fish that allowed me to get the 125. if i got rid of him i would be disowned. so now here is the list: 2 jd's, 1 gt, 1 gt(1 texan 1 terror), 1 bp, 1 leoporinus, 1 toadfish, 1 salvini or 1 firemouth, 1 convict, 3+ pictus. anything else, thnx...

You haven't changed your list at all other than taking the oscar off..... And in response to you earlier post, I'm barely a teen as well.... what's your point?

yo fishjude78...:chillpill:. come on really its my first tank, i will probably end up skrewin it up or will maybe manage to get it right. everyone told me i couldn't keep 2 pictus and they out lived all of their pictus. fish are fish, people are people, and the 2 mixed are gonna cause hell sooner or later. i still got plenty of time to think this over and get advise. the tank is going slower then i thought. the tank will probably not get setup till september. actually i have changed the stocklist a lot. i have a page with pictures that i have put together so i can figure out if i have too much of one color or not and it has gone from red heavy to green heavy. i have cut off 3 fish and changed 2. so :chillpill: pls. ok now anything else i should know???

I've read thru your post and I'm concerned about one very important aspect. Your filtration. You stated, "i will have over 500 gallons per hour of filteration from canister filters, using biological and chemical filteration". Lets back the truck up a little. I would be interested to know exactly what type of filters, medias and what type of chemical filtration you're using. Here's why. I've kept most all of the fish you are planning for your project with some success...and some failure. These are all fish that produce significant waste. A 125 gallon tank is a good size tank but when I don't know exactly how you are going to filter it, it throws up a red flag. Here's something to consider: When you look at the flow rates of cannister filters, the companies usually give you the flow rate of the motor without media. Now depending on what you put in the cannister, you can restrict your flow rate by as much as 50%. Remember this: It's better to over-filter than under-filter. Let me know how I can help.

ok i will be using a hang on tank magnum pro system canister filter system with a bio wheel. and 2 fluval 305 canister filters. the magnum has activated carbon in it. i was going to start a thread asking what would be good in the 305's i was thinking maybe peat??? what would be good in the 305's thnx
