Are those sponge filters in every tank? I noticed on some you also have HOB filters as well. Why do you use so many sponge filters?

Because it is cheap to run the sponges and the HOB, aren't on all the time.

Excellent room and fish, man. I'm jealous. The only thing that room is missing, is a bed.

Thanks Cookie*420!!!!! I am putting my lazyboy in there when I need it....Have directv in their too!!!!!! Just need to bulid my bar in the other half of the basement......and my girlfriend will never see me!!!! whoohoo!!!

Nice idea with filters. I need to save some electricity as well.

thanks for all of the nice comments!!! I am always looking for ways to save money.......next up is the heating of tanks for Winter months cuz I am in WI and Winters get a little cold here, so I have to figure things out for the room, and can open furnace room to heat room, but I don't want to use a ton of electricity via my tanks heaters running all the time....and of course I don't want my house furnace set at 80!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to come back for another look at the room, it's still sweet heheh.

Reading over the last post about heat- have you considered in floor heating in just the basement with maybe pergo over that. Run water through the lines in the floor and keep it at around 75 down there. The heat rises up and heats the upper floors of the house to around 70 possibly? Also eliminating any need for submersible heaters in the tanks. Just some "baked" thoughts.
