yes that could happen, but thats why if I do central system, I would install valves to isolate the tanks if need be.
 
I never thought of using valves to be able to isolate tanks if need be you would have to find a way to install some kind of overflow in your tanks as well I would imagine that might be a real headache as well.

Thanks!!! things are going to be changing soon in the fishroom!!!! Going to be setting up a central system for most of the tanks and the tanks I am going to add!!!

It wont be too bad, I am going to make a ton of DIY PVC overflows for all of the tanks since I dont want to drill the tanks just in case I ever have to sell any of them.
 
If you go with a central system will you then keep afew hob filters so you can isolate certain tanks if need be. You sure have things well thought out wish we would have planned a few things better but it helps keep things from getting old when you want or need to change something enjoy your project you're doing a great job.
