Quick question for anyone brave enough to answer...I was setting up my new 75 and when I got to the plumbing of the canisters, I got to thinking about doing dual intakes with a 48" spray bar...any thoughts for or against the dual intakes? Any foreseeable problems or benefits? Ill be finishing this up hopefully tomorrow...Thanks

Getting there...doin what I can in between classes...makin a mess, the other half isnt pleased lol...decided to make my own spray bar and return. This is my first time making my own spray bar and plumbing, but it seems to be going well...any criticism or opinions are always welcome...like to know im doing something wrong or where something may go wrong before it does ya know. ill post more as it goes

food for thought, depending on the size of pump you are going to use (maybe size does not matter, it is how you use it LMAO) your intake should be larger then your exhaust, I do not see any reason that you could not use a spray bar if your pump is got enough umf to it...... Also you will want to get some silacone seal lubricant or the canisters will leak. Check your O rings befor you get started......

also you might think about using sponge in the first canister instead of a micro filter, are you going to use any bio media?

I am so excited to see somebody stepping up and using a great system... that is what I have on 2 of my tanks and I love it

Long spray bar is great, I have a 6' on my 500g, but I wish I made the holes smaller and there are great guides for hole size and flow, but it all depends on the size pump you get and the amount of head it can push I guess. Just measure it and I would make sure you like it before sealing it on

The pump I have is a 975 gph pump...figured it would be overkill on this tank...the head is roughly 4 ft...I plan on filling one canister with pot scrubbies and maybe ceramic rings and the using the filter on the other. I havent drilled the holes in the spray bar yet but I planned on starting out small and adjusting the hole size as necessary...I basically copied a design from here, except his was a 48" so I just cut my measurement in half...you said something about the intake should be bigger than the exhaust, how would i get more to come in (dual intakes?) And ive read a couple posts on here about the orings leaking, what type of sealant did you use on yours? wouldnt a bigger oring eliminate that problem? I appreciate the feedback, gives me something to think about while im in class tonight, lol

I went to the pool store and obtained this gooy, messy blue stuff the first time, when I went back I got a clear type in a tube and it is great no mess.

for the intake you can use 1" and exhaust 1/2" it is much easier then working a duel in..... the Nu-clear when purchased new comes with 1", 3/4" and 1/2" for the intake side.... you can email Paul and he will get back to you very quick, see if you can purchase them from him or at the local hardware store.

more food for thought, you are planning on setting up the first canister as a bio, where will you have mechanical filtration? that means you will be pulling the waist out of the water with the bio media???
I am not sure that will give you the out come you are looking for....

My intake, as well as the rest of my plumbing throught the system, is 3/4 pvc and the intake is open on the bottom...my exhaust will be whichever size holes i drill in the pvc...and you refer to the nu-clear, these are the ocean clear canisters, is there really a difference? ill do some more reading and see how how i can maybe get more through the intake...Thanks

I do have both Nu-clear and Ocean Clear the difference is the Ocean Clear did not have the 1" intake...... maybe if you tap down to 1/2 on the exhaust side you will get better valcity with the spray bar, with the pump only at 975 you might not have a problem..... I have to increase to 1" on the intake when I got a new pump that is 1200 gph after plumbing.

lol you said "only 975"...i thought that was a big pump for what i had, maybe i was wrong...i should get it all hooked up tonight and ill see what itll shoot and adjust accordingly...ya got me worried about the orings on the canisters though, guess ill just have to fill it up and see
