My GATF/TATF Growout Shoal Thread

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I agree with sashimi... Let them starve for three days then give them softened pellets. Between being hungry and how hard they strike, they'll eat it and probably not even notice its something new.

Thanks for the input everyone, I'll start the pellet training as of today. Nothing but pellets will go in the tank.

heres a close up video as promise:

Btw looking at the video, what species of atf are the two non goliath tigers? They are supposed to be Tanzaniae they don't look blue/green to me.

Danny,

The color must have been off in the pics you texted me. In that video they look perfect for tanzaniae to me. The one even has a very vivid blue adipose fin. The other one is not so vivid but it still looks blue to me and we can't forget that there is quite a bit of individual variation between fish.

I have no doubt they are tatf.

PS- Wes getting an ID wrong is like the sun not coming up. ;)

Thanks again Chicx, when in doubt just go to chicxulub for an ID :clap. Fed my fish this morning, looks like they will all be on pellets in no time. I soaked the carni sticks for a couple of minutes so its somewhat soft, tossed it in the tank. A taft and 2 gatf ate a couple pellets.

It must be the good current that makes them take pellets so easily. Congrats!

Thanks man! I am pretty excited! I definitely think the current has a huge part in it. I tried playing around yesterday with the current and a couple minutes after the power-heads were turned off, the tigers started sparring with each other. What I observed was, larger taft picked on the smaller taft. Larger gatf went after the smaller gatf. And Gatf going after the taft. Definitely keeping the current flowing lol.

Here's a video I just took of my progress on pellet training:
