i was thinking what if you put guppies or some live berears (sorry for the wrong spelling) in the ray tank and just let them breed. they can fit in the holes and would breed quickly.
I also have water snails and all kind of insects breed in there. It's perfect for rays. I think they prefer to be in this pond than to be in big aquarium tanks. They stay all week alone and they don't complain
I would like to have some shrimp in there to, but it's impossible because of the Gambusia
As the water in the rays tank/pond, was getting cold, 18ºC, and the sun was missing, I was eager to get there on Saturday to turn the heaters on.

i've made 2 diy heater protection
that I put in the side of the female ray because I beleive she is the less resistant oh the 2.
Adjusted the temperature to 22ºC. The funny thing is that the next day the sun apeared and the temperature rised quickly. So I think that these heatrs will not cause big problem in the electricity account
