That JD may be boss now. But eventually them Jag's true tempers are going to sprout and one of the Jags and that JD will be gone. Personally, I'd leave the JD in the 55 and move the Jag's to a bigger tank.
As for water changes. I do weekly 50% changes, I use a dechlorinator and have never seen any side affects on my fish. I usually prepare my water ahead of draining the water out and let it sit and dilute.

well great, now you know how to get yours to look like that too. just cram three aggressive fish into too small of a tank so they'll beat the crap out of each other day and night. next thing you know, you're fish will be stressed out and blacken up too. it's not recommended though

As for "Why do ppl assume 2 jags and a JD in 55 is irresponible not grow out" - just read other posts ppl do this all the time and far worse - 2 Dovii, 4 Festae, GT, 2 Oscars, RD, Texas, 3 JD's, Firemouth, and "Can I add more fish or am I overstocked they are all under 5" and get along just fine."
