Pfff, that looks like utter crap, you should just scrap it and give up fishkeeping as a hobby, and you call yourself a DIY'er....... :yuck:

Whatever, that stand looks awesome! Looks just as good as most of us on here are capable of, and some of us are pretty dang good carpenters.

Can't wait to see this monster set up. Didn't take you too long to get back into big tanks, did it? So what's the footprint of this tank?

Lol thanks! Yeah once I got hooked on discus I knew I needed a bigger tank. I think this is as big as I can go. Don't really wanna go back into the monster tanks. The new tank is 60x30x24 :D

Jose, you make me jealous ....

Thanks LP and Chonh!

I don't think I'm ready for a stain project yet. It would show too many imperfections, which I can cover up with paint ;) Besides, I used cheap whiteboard wood, which I don't think wood look good with stain. Maybe in the near future I'll try to build a stand for a small tank out of solid oak, and stain that :D

You'd be surprised what you can do with whiteboard and stains. You just have to get creative and try a few things on scrap boards first.

Personally I like working with Birch, Poplar, Cherry, and Maple, but out of those the Birch is probably the cheapest...
