My most intense DIY project: 190g stand!

Okay this thing is painted!!!!!!!! I had one hell of a time though. First color I tried was satin, way too flat for my tastes. Then I tried a gloss 'kona brown' color, which was way too red. I then went with an oil-rubbed bronze color which was cool, but it was an oil-based paint. I'm not sure what I did wrong but it was going on extremely clumpy.

So I had to nuke the whole thing. Spent ALL day saturday stripping and sanding. Then yesterday I laid on several thin coats of gloss Leather Brown. Overall I'm pleased with the results. I would have liked it to be a tad bit redder, but oh well! Should look good once it's in the living room.

What do you guys think?

Nice work again, I especially like the detail you put into the doors, they POP!

Thanks! You can see the sump in one of the pics. It's a 40g, 36x16x16. And I'll have 2x Quiet One 4000 pumps :D

Those are the same pumps I use. I like them a lot. Haven't had one fail on me yet, going on 4 years of constant running now.

Is 40gal gonna cut it? Scary for a 190.

Anyhow, I wanna see the raw materials you got for the guts of this tank, like the "probably gigantic" piece of drift wood you got lined up.:eek:
