My Native 55...

Is the 700 that I got going to be too much? I dont want to blow gravel or rip out my plants, lol.
Unless you're using styrofoam peanuts as gravel, you'll be fine with the 700. I'd put it behind a piece of driftwood to hide it some.

Does the flow pattern need to be unobstructed? In other words does it need to be on one side of the tank and have a clean path across to the other side?

It's your tank, do it as you see fit.

I realize that, just never used one of these. I guess I'll see how they do without it and add it once I decide how I want to place it.

My new darters arrived today!!! So excited!! Only problem is my tank wont go below 70, lol. I have the heater set for 68. I may just have to take it out completely. The water they arrived in was 60 degrees. I have them in a fresh bucket of water now, bringing them up to room temp before they go in.

I think 70F is fine. I don't use a heater in my native tanks and the temps are around 72-74F usually. They may go a little lower then that in winter. We got central air in this house so the house never really gets that hot.

It seems like Im getting a lot of algae growth. Some spots have popped up on the back glass and my pick up tube has some redish brown color stuff growing on it. Suggestions?
