My new baby!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I got one of my parakeets to know step up and be comfortable with people. Then I got her a friend...
They both closed off from me and my family and got rather mean. The first one, Zazu, always remained calm and nice, but the second one, Iago lived up to the name completely. Hated us till the day he/she died.
I’d say for training, it’s important to do it while the bird is young and alone.

When birds are not sure of what they are stepping onto they may test with a bite to see if object if strong enough for them to stand on. If the person gets afraid and pulls away, the bird might bite harder....

If the object is to far away they could hook onto it to pull it closer, not bite, but use the natural curve in the beak to hook onto it. Again if a person is using a finger and gets scared and pulls away, could cause a bite.
Can’t imagine not pulling away when a macaw is doing a test bite lol. Thx for the info
