Yours is a 1000% ARTC. Careful the fella will start shredding his tank mates soon as mine did. But u will love the color of his tail when he reaches 8"

What's the average captive max size?
I would think easily 24". Mine loves hikari carnivore pellets and has since been on a growth spurt!
This guy just got on to massivore, so I'm expecting a spurt soon. He's in a 40 breeder with a similar sized peacock bass who will soon be moving to a 55g with his buddies. My plan is to then keep the ARTC in the 40b until he hits ~12" then move him to a 300g pond outside to live alone. Or I'll move him to my 4600g pond and let him try and take on a 30" koi
Yes you are right, the bigger ones ive seen here in the UK look blacker lol.
Can hit 36 inch cant they, bye bye koi even when he is 2ft if he is a mean one!-) I think my wyckii drowned my 2ft giant snakehead when he was 15 inch, ive seen him grab midas by the head and hold on and the snakehead had no obvious signs off damage... They are scared of nothing !-)
