My new Lei

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
He is alive and a frustrating piece of junk. :irked:

He won't eat live black worms any more. Or krill, tilapia, pellets, shrimp. Now he eats flake food, and not very much of that. All he does is stay alive. I am going to have a 4 inch lei that is 4 years old. He just isn't interested in food. I treated with prazipro for 3 weeks, with a 50% water change at the end of each week. I have had the temp at 85 now for 2 months. I don't know what else to do. Thanks for asking, though.

Try him on silk worms if he's still small roger I used to give my jardini those when he wouldn't eat , not too many though there hard for them to digest , I got carried away and mine had a little fit regurgitating them (it paniced me loads) good luck :D

Live food is always a bad idea. Blackworms can carry parasites. I know because, I used to raise bettas and some would get very sick after being fed blackworms. You got your lei about the time that I got mine. I only feed mine hikari sticks and it has grown 3 inches. Hopefully it pulls through, and if it does, it will be better than ever. But you should really consider foodsticks/pellets instead of live food.

I wouldn't know where to get silk worms around here.

I can get some crickets to gut load and try them.

He won't even mouth food sticks. I have tried soaking in garlic too. I have about 15 different pellets here of all sizes as well as Hikari aro sticks.

He is still in the tank with the swordtails and 6 baby silver dollars. I have been thinking about moving him to my 40B but I feel that the other fish swimming around eating should help to get him eating. (There is a grow-out tig and slobbering cat in it.) I guess I could move him and see what happens. I can always move him back if he eats even less.
I really appreciate everyone's suggestions.

I moved him to the 40B last Friday morning and fed him some tilapia that night which he spit out. Saturday I tried it again same results. In the afternoon he ate maybe 10 blackworms but wasn't too excited about them. He ate some flakes with more enthusiasm. Yesterday I went and got a couple baby crickets. When I got home there was only one. LOL I now had a single cricket gutloaded with another cricket. He ate that after swimming around watching it for awhile, but really hit it hard when he did. This morning he ate the hell out of flakes and I went and got a dozen baby crickets this afternoon. He scarfed down 3 of those! I just went in to feed the cats for the night some tilapia chunks. Larger then I have ever tried to get him to eat. The first one hit the water and he snatched it up and had to work really hard but he got it down! I am alll pumped now. More crickets in the morning with some flake followed by tilapia a few hours later is the plan. Wish me luck. I will see if I can get a decent picture. I just hope, if he is going to start eating, that he isn't stunted now.
