What a BRUISER!!! 
Can't believe a the transformation, that's the best $10 fish I've ever seen.
I feed my RD the same formula but still no kok.
This is one time that genetics is a b*tch I guess.
I should pop in my female again with a divider(this time round) to see if that helps.

LOL, I guess genes are great in this instance. Thanks for the comments. I will definitly keep everyone updated.
On a side note i hope he gets longer soon. He's so thick in the body i'm strating to think short body. I don't wanrt a shorty. I want 12" of furry. Also he has bitten me three times in the past week and it hurts like hell. He is actively hunting my arm everytime i go in the tank..... little a- hole, lol.

I know exactly what you mean, I don't really like when my big guy nips me either.
I think it scares me a bit more than it hurts, he always pull of ninja styles when he gets me.
When he charges me I'm usually ready, but he's got me a few times, the head butts are painful too sometimes.
My guy has no hump, so it all bone.
The net trick works sometimes but he's smart & will grab it then go for a nip.
My female is pretty bad too, her ninja styles are pretty slick too.
My smallest guy is still shy, after his earthworm treats today he's showing sign of dominance.
Chasing his tank mates all over. I didn't think live treats would give him courage.
His bars are really showing now.

Wow huge transformation, definitely good genes. You should breed him as we, pass on those genes.
I do indeed intend to breed him. I have a 1 yr old female zz who's very red and pearly That i'm going to breed him to. their in the same tank with an eggcrate divider right now. the only problem is she's bigger than him by quite a lot. She is pushing 10" while he's between 7 and 8". Plus he thinks he's bigger than her and ends up starting fights but she finishs them.
