I recently decided to get back in the hobby and bought a few tanks. My girlfriend and I went out to the canals here in the Phoenix area to try to catch some smaller fish to put in our 55 gallon and we ended up catching 2 very small largemouth bass, a yellow bass, and flathead catfish. I put them in with my 14" ornate bichir. YES I KNOW they'll need a bigger tank later but the 55 will do for now. Just felt like sharing.

Should had leave flathead and a second largemouth bass back in the canal. Flathead will eat everything that can fits in his mouth. Largemouth bass are aggressive towards each other and may put the white bass in danger if they decided him to be a threat.

The flathead is only 6" and there's nothing else in the tank that'll be fitting in his mouth anytime soon. I've kept largemouths together before with no problems in larger tanks. This is actually a yellow bass, not white and he'll eventually be moving to a completely different tank in 2 months. This is far from my first time keeping any of these species.

Nice looking fish! I especially like the yellow bass. They look really cool in an aquarium. I caught one over the summer that was going to go in my tank, but the bubbler got disconnected overnight and the yellow was dead by morning. He was probably too big anyway. You are the first person i have seen keep a yellow besides myself.

Wasn't expecting to catch him. They're rare to find in the canals but my girlfriend actually caught one a couple weeks ago in the exact same spot.

There's something cool about catching your own stock, I always use bluegills as dither fish and I always enjoy catching them and tossing them back if they don't look good enough or I'm trying for a specific species. It's like shopping for free, each hook set could be the one your looking for. You got some cool fish there, nice work.

I am just recently getting back into the hobby also... Did you used to have the pond with the RTC RTC/TSN and such? If so pretty funny, seems like a lot of the same people are getting back into the hobby at the same time. A lot of familiar names from 6-7 years ago! Nice fish too!

Awesome fish! Want to send a few Yellow Bass my way :) ? Hope the flathead does well for you too, that thing will be a monster in no time!

I think the Yellow looks good in there, I would purchase some fingerlings; if they were to be made available...

Nope, not me. It's been about 10 years out of the hobby for me.

I'll try to catch more and possibly make them available. If I ever get tired of this guy I might consider selling him off
