They ate the danios I had in there haha, think if I got somethin bigger they'd try to eat them less? They were kinda out when the danios were out, prolly thought it was safer since they saw everything else out. I had mbuna before...not even close to shy, and tbh, as spectacular as EBJD's look, I'd rather have a tank full of fish that look good that I can see, or a single wet pet that I can interact with if I'm going with something big. I don't mind having something big, but if I can't see it, what's the point?
put a silver dollar in there.

but if it doesn't change I might end up swapping him out, I'm sure the store will be happy to take him for a decent price since they'll be able to mark him up very nicely.

I will take him off your hands if you are willing to ship. Just give me the same good price that you want as trade

Yea, I'll prolly keep him around for a lil while longer, I really would hate to miss out on a guy that is just getting used to his new surroundings b/c I'm too impatient; besides, Friday I get some calvus for my new tang setup, so I'll be preoccupied with them and shellies soon after.

One question though, would a pair or so of gourami help? Even if it would have to be temporary, they are pretty tough themselves, I'd say as tough as a firemouth or somethin, unless they wouldn't work specifically as dithers. Any suggestions on the gourami or any other dithers that could help for the time being? I really like the gourami, they are very interesting, I had a couple back when I was a bit younger and still enjoy them.

try 5 Panda Barb.

Just an update, I moved the 2 females out of the tank for a little bit, they were sitting at the top next to my powerhead so I figured it couldn't be good news, he's been chasin them around whenever they get near his cave, or if he feels like chasing them basically. I will try to reintroduce them tomorrow, as I have tangs coming that I need the tank they're in for :nilly:

So I put another female I picked up today in there, and all it is now is the pair in their cave and a female getting ugly looks when she goes snoopin...still all hiding, with the new female sitting behind my powerhead, not a good sign. Should I just take the caves out for them to get used to ppl walking around? I think it may stress them which I don't want... but It's ridiculous

Give them time I just bought a breeding pair of Blue genes about a week and a half ago there only just coming out and showing the mating rituals. Just let them be and I can promise you they will come out, now they will hide a dart every time someone walks on for a long time my best technique to get rid of this is to feed them treats every time I walk in the room for awhile. Frozen Blood worms ;) they love them and its great for conditioning thrum for spawning.

My old JD pair did not like a third wheel. Once the pair was established the other female was beat up. I had to pull her out before she was killed. Try not to keep switching things around in your tank. Taking new fish in and out of a tank isn't the best way to end their nervousness. Give them time to settle. Feed them well and keep up with water changes and they will breed. Be patient. My pair had fry all the time.

Yea, I'm pretty well on keeping him around, he's out every so often now (even if it is just chasing the females) and he looks like he's really putting on some size from when I originally got him, which is definitely awesome :headbang2 must have been gettin starved being the lowest on the food chain where he was, but the krill and good food is doin him wonders :D

As for the females, I'll leave'em there for now, not much elsewhere to put them, got my tangs today so that tank is filled, I do feel kinda bad for them, but they aren't getting terribly beat up, he only chases them 'til they lose him, which doesn't take long :ROFL:sucks b/c when I put the original female and male in there, they got along fine, same cave and everything, now that he's runnin the show though, and after I put the second female in, he's ridin solo. Bummer but no one is perfect. No dithers either, I have enough fish lol.
