+1. Every time someone buys one, it means they're going to order more because it sold. If no one buys them, the ones in the stores will suffer, but they won't order any more. They should be a fish that is only available through special order (this would help remove impulse buys).

i have two new baby pacus.... i had two for over 8 years until they perished in a short from fire ... etc.. i broke down and had to get them again.,. they are in my opinion one of the best fish to own........ they have personality that no other fish can come close in my opinion.. they dance and always appear to be happy.. they do not eat nuts or carrots or any other veggie until they are older and have teeth.. then you can even hear them crunching as they eat a piece of fresh carrot or a nut..... they make me laugh for sure.. right now small pellets, brine shrimp and blood worms and veggie flakes is a good diet.. i hope you can end up keeping him,... they are so worth it.. but they do grow fast so if possible start planning for the future now.
It's a stunted pacu in bad shape with eye problems and gill curls. Healthy black pacu get larger than that one.
Ok thanks for being positive unlike other people on here. Why comment if your going to hate? Anyways what size tank did you keep yours in? What kind of nuts should I feed them once they get older?

If he does out grow my tank and start to look unhealthy I will rehome him to my LFS' 5000 gallon show tank I'm sure he would be quite happy in there 
. And I'm working on getting a pond too so maybe he won't have to live in the 220 for life.

He will be quite happy in your tank for a while. They grow quickly to 12-18" then tend to slow. I had 2 in my 300 gallon. They did perfectly fine with other fish. Only thing to watch out for is when they get moving around quickly they can knock over decor and may scare any of your more sensitive fish.

My only sensitive fish are my ID Sharks. I've had them for about half a year and my largest one is about 7 inches other is 4. My longest fish is my Fire Eel and my heaviest is my Eclipse Catfish and a 3 Year old Blood Parrot I inherited for free from a tank my Bro bought off craiglists that came with fish. I currently have a lot of decor but I will remove some to make room for my pacu once he gets big but for now he is still small.

I have never ever seen a Pacu in my life. In europe or Canada. I have a 225 with a 3' wide so I could probably house one for quite a while but I guess not for life. Just bare in mind that not all fish will grow to what we consider the maximum size. its max for a reason. I'd rather see this guy keep a pacu in a 220 than it get stunted in a 55g. at least the fish will be somewhat happier. I suppose its the width that would make them unhappy
