My new rtc

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Your mom was worried about the humidity that your 90G would create. How do you think she is going to react when you tell her you plan on setting up a 1,500G intex pool in the basement?

You are in over your head; stick to buying fish you can properly keep in the tank you currently have.

I hate to say it but he is right. Had i know what i know now about there growth rate and behavior I would have done far more prep to keep one. mine at 2.5 inches grew out of a 55 in 5 months. That and there Bio load on a tank is unreal.

Nice rtc even if you have your plans set for him always have a backup i say for these guys i love my rtc... But always good to have a plan b if u have to rehome in the future.

The 250 gallon 6ft kiddie pool is going in my garage so humidity is not an issue.

p.s. I did end up convincing her to let me get it, but when I called the guy selling it back he told me it was sold.

how much did you buy him for?

$15

Thanks, I am going to pick up the kiddie pool this weekend so by the time he outgrows his tank the pond should be ready. I already have a 1300gph pump. If I have to I will sell him to someone with a larger tank. Either way it's better that I bought it as apposed to someone with a 10 gallon.

Sounds good keep us updated with his growth they go so fast man... I had my first rtcxhybrid go from 4inches to 17.5inches in 5 MONTHS! Ive never seen a fish grow so fast.

Today I saw a golden RTC at the lfs. They said that they get 18".
They don't look nearly as cool as the normal ones though.

thats just a synonym name for sun catfish.

also to necro, From what I've heard the Dallas aquarium have a rtc over 5'. i don't know if this is true but i have been told this by quite a few people.

Nice little RTC but just to let u know that there will be humidity issues even if your pool is set up in the garage. Especially from a uncovered pool. Your walls "will" mold and I advise you to run a dehumidifier (which can be expensive to run) or u'll be asking for trouble. I certainly know this from having my monster tank set up in the garage and my tank was covered with well sealed tops. My garage's walls and roof started molding and I was forced by my dad to shut my tank down.:( Don't take it the wrong way I'm just warning u before u screw up your parents house...
