my new vatf

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
thanks all, it is very calm. it has been more active then my gatf were.

Not surprised!! I think GATF are equal to Mala's. very little to no action. VATF... True VATF is the ultimate ATF IMO! Once a keeper owns one for at least 1 year, IT'S OVER!:headbang2

Nice combo w/the Discus. When I tried, I think I had 10 discus from 2-4" or so and my VATF was about 15":naughty:

Not for me, my gatf and vatf are equally active and act the exact same minus when the lights are off when the gatf's go nuts in the current

Glad yours actually swim. The Goliaths I have kept, do very little swimming and when current is given, they hang out in the current like catfish.

When lighs go out, they are super active but I like to see activity w/the lights on Lol.
Also, I have yet to see a large GATF w/a sence of direction. All big Goliaths have crappy looking snouts... looks like Popcorn faces Lol. To dumb for my taste but thats just me ;)

ATF's in multiple will likely swim more due to nipping or swimming territory. Not a ATF know it all just in my experience :)

@ sheajared... was it a Yellowtail or the false VATF aka FATF or bigeye?

Guess now I know why I never heard anything back.... Cangrats on the pick up.

Good luck with that thing..... Hopefully there's plans of giving it some room in the near future. Was hoping I'd get to see it's 10' top speed here, but maybe this is just a sign that I need to try to recreate Tigerfangs's group of Vatfs rather then just 1.... lol

Oh I totally agree with the gatf snout thing, one of mine always bangs up his face while the other is pristine. Hope it stays that way! :P my vatf is a yellowtail so I don't know if that would affect the activity vs a regular vatf. My guys don't really nip at each other much I think it's due to the overstocking of dithers keeping the tank always moving? Lol maybe I'm just lucky
